If you use the data stored in metafields, the Langify app is able to translate that data.
Here is some feedback I received from a customer:
From the Langify app, I was able to edit the Page I'm using as a test. Then select the metafields and copy the JSON string over to the translation key. Then I manually update the values with the translations. I can even replace images for specific ones to use in the translated version.
Findings:
- The translated json string must be minified, if not Sections Anywhere won't recognise it. (Which I'm fine with, we always want to save a minified version)
- When having different images, if we copy the url from the File system. We need to make sure to remove the string after ?, including the ?.
For example:
If the image url copied from the file system is:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/4462/4057/files/warm-sun-palmtrees.jpg?v=1611218144
We should add to the translation file this one:
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0536/4462/4057/files/warm-sun-palmtrees.jpg
The way I was editing the json file so it's easier to edit was:
1- Copy the original metafield value from Langify
2- Go to https://jsonlint.com/ and paste the value there, then click on Validate JSON
3- From there, I can easily edit the values
4- Once I'm happy with it, I'll copy the json, then go to https://codebeautify.org/jsonminifier and paste it on the left
5- This page automatically generates the minified version on the right
6- I copy the minified version and paste it back into Langify
